A party of 10 Waxwings found in the late afternoon became the 200th species recorded at the Observatory this year. They showed well for a short period of time before flying off south.

A big movement of visible migration was evident over the peninsular today with the first large count of Chaffinch of the Autumn, plus a party of Crossbills and a single Lapland Bunting through. Offshore a Great Northern Diver showed well on the sea off the point.

There was an obvious influx of Thrushes around the Obs today but the highlight was the finding of a Firecrest late in the afternoon. It was feeding in Willows with a Tit flock showing on and off for 30 minutes before being lost.
